For sale is my 1999 BMW Z3 Coupe manual in cosmos over black leather interior. This coupe holds a clean California title with 0 accident history. I have both carfax and autocheck from when I acquired this coupe in October of 2019 locally in Santa Monica from the long term second owner of 17 years. The coupe was very well preserved with maintenance records since new. As soon as I aquired it, I addressed any maintenance needs ( clutch fan, belts, filters, oil, spark plugs, PCV breather kit, valve cover gasket).
Im a bmw enthusiast and bmwcca member. I currently also own a 99 M coupe and a 99 e36 m3, and have owned BMWs since 2004. This car has been cared for under all owners and is ready for a new home. Only selling to fund my air cooled Porsche dream.
I installed a few tasteful cosmetic/ performance upgrades, which includes a new set of Apex ARC-8 wheels and Hankook Ventus v12 tires in 255/40r17 rears and 225/45r17 fronts per recommendation of Apex. I installed a new Supersprint race exhaust and had a shop do a high temperature ceramic coating in satin black. I also added original cosmos m coupe mirrors, zhp shift knob and an oem stubby antenna. Also included is a never done front grill and a bmwcca grill badge.
Just installed a full set of koni yellows, h&r sport springs, tckline rear shock mounts, bimmerbum M coupe lower control arm bushings and all the miscellaneous suspension components needed to be replaced.
New brake rotors, pads, sensors and all four abs speed sensors.
The z3 and e36 are known to have the infamous 5th gear lean, where the shifter does not reset to the neutral position but leans towards 5th gear. The fix is a shift detent pin, but this requires the transmission to be removed. The detent pins have been replaced and since the transmission was out, I had a new luk flywheel and clutch installed as well as the guibo and rear main seal replaced.
All these parts were just installed, as I had planned to keep this car forever, but the dream of the aircooled Porsche took over and one of my bmw’s has to go.
Seat bushings were also replaced which is another common z3 quirk.
Included are all the receipts under my ownership which total over 5k not including labor.
Cosmetic issues on the front right fender prior to my ownership, are a few poor touch up paint spots. The previous owner said this was done by a negligent car wash. Mechanically the m52 2.8l engine is in top shape.
Only issue known is the abs, asc light will come on and off. I replaced all the sensors but the light still comes on. The next step is to send the module to get fixed which is about $200 to do. Does not affect the vehicles performance.
I have only used shell 91 fuel. I have put around 2k miles in my time of ownership, never tracked.
Value of these cars in on the rise, and a great time to buy before the prices skyrocket. Production numbers are very low and the non Ms are like the 912s of Porsche. No tears, hardly any drivers bolster wear, fully functioning ice cold AC.
