Seller Description

This 2002 BMW Z3 3.0i coupe is a 22k-mile example that was purchased new by Andy Maddux, owner of BMW accessory site LeatherZ, and it was subsequently retrofitted with a black Nappa leather interior, a Z3-specification center console and mirrors, custom steering wheel upholstery and interior accents, lowering springs, Bilstein dampers, a SuperSprint rear resonator, a rear fog light, aftermarket audio components, BMW Individual door sills, a cold-air intake, and a Shark Injector Performance Programmer. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the car is equipped with a limited-slip differential, 17″ Style 42 alloy wheels, a sunroof, heated seats, cruise control, and air conditioning. Acquired by the selling dealer in 2024, this Z3 coupe is now offered with a window sticker, a BMW welcome kit, a November 2003 Bimmer Magazine article, spare parts, service records, and a clean Pennsylvania title.

This Z3 coupe is one of two non-M examples that were finished in Dakar Yellow over Walnut leather upholstery for the North American market, and this car is said to be the only one in that color combination ordered with a manual transmission. Exterior details include a power-operated glass sunroof, fog lights, flared wheel arches, Z3 M door mirrors, a rear window wiper, front fender vents, and dual exhaust outlets. Paint protection film has been added to the hood, front bumper cover, and fenders. A rear fog light was added under previous ownership, tinting was added to the windows, and the selling dealer tells us that a paint correction was performed before a ceramic coating was applied to the exterior under current ownership. The Carfax report lists a rear-end collision with another vehicle in a July 2014 entry that resulted in “minor damage” to the rear end, and the rear bumper cover was subsequently repainted.

The 17″ Style 42 alloy wheels are mounted with 225/45 front and 245/40 rear General G-max RR tires that are said to have been installed in preparation for the sale, and an alignment was performed at that time. The car was fitted with Bilstein dampers under previous ownership, and the selling dealer states that H&R lowering springs were recently added. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with ventilated front rotors.

Originally specified with Walnut leather upholstery, the interior was revised under previous ownership with black Nappa leather seats and trim as well as a Z3 M-specification center console insert with VDO gauges and amber backlighting, leather dashboard upholstery, amber LED interior and door handle accent lighting, BMW Individual door sills, an M-specification rearview mirror, a Ron Styger clutch pedal kit, and LeatherZ black suede door hockey sticks and door armrests. Factory equipment includes heated bucket seats, cruise control, and air conditioning. A Mk2 armrest in black Nappa leather with a universal garage door opener has been added, and a build sheet listing modifications to the audio system is viewable in the gallery below.

The selling dealer tells us that additional padding was installed on the steering wheel before it was re-trimmed in black leather with suede inserts and Dakar Yellow stitching that extends to the shifter and hand brake lever boots. Instrumentation includes a 155-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,200-rpm redline as well as gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 22k miles, approximately 500 miles of which were added under current ownership.

The 3.0-liter M54B30 inline-six was factory rated at 225 horsepower and 214 lb-ft of torque. A Conforti carbon-fiber cold-air intake was added along with a Shark Injector Performance Programmer. A Dinan CARB sticker has been applied to the inside of the air box. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Randy Forbes differential and subframe reinforcement kit was installed in 2010, and an M differential cover and Ireland Engineering subframe bushings have been fitted.  The fluids in the transmission and differential were most recently changed in 2020. The car is equipped with SuperSprint rear exhaust components.

A window sticker, a BMW welcome kit, accessories, spare parts, and a laminated November 2003 Bimmer Magazine article featuring the car are included in the sale.

The Carfax report lists the aforementioned damage.

If you don't happen to recognize it, this is one of the LeatherZ coupes long known in the coupe community. It looks so good lowered on Style 42s. The interior is mostly all ///M style with all of the LeatherZ upgrades. See previous listing for more information. Bidding up to $10,000.00 so far.
