Seller Description

Doug's Take

I'm a huge fan of the "Clown Shoe" BMW Z3 Coupe, as it's one of the quirkiest modern sports cars, though it still offers an engaging driving experience AND a surprisingly practical interior. This particular Z3 Coupe boasts a 5-speed manual transmission and 6-cylinder power – along with some nice great factory equipment like a power sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. Plus, this Z3 Coupe is offered with no modifications and a clean, accident-free Carfax report showing warm-climate ownership from new, which are excellent benefits that further enhance its appeal.

Highlights

THIS... is a 1999 BMW Z3 2.8i Coupe, finished in black with a black interior.

  • This Z3 features the desirable 5-speed manual transmission.
  • The attached Carfax history report lists no accidents or mileage discrepancies in this Z3's past. It also shows registration to one owner since 2001 and California ownership since new.
  • According to the build sheet provided in the gallery, factory equipment includes 16-inch Style 47 wheels, a limited-slip differential, a power sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, a rear cargo cover, air conditioning, and a Harman/Kardon sound system. The selling dealer reports no modifications.
  • Released for 1996, the Z3 was welcomed as a rear-wheel-drive roadster with two seats and a relatively affordable price tag; it was a true driver's car. BMW kept development costs in check by sourcing some components from the E30 and E36 3 Series parts bins, and it built the Z3 in South Carolina. 1997 brought a 6-cylinder engine, and the coupe arrived for 1999 with a shooting brake-like design that earned it the nickname "Clown Shoe." Production of both body styles ended in 2002.
  • Power comes from a 2.8-liter inline-6, rated at 193 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

Pretty cool that this coupe got reviewed by Doug DeMuro (I know of several people having been trying to get him to do a coupe review for almost a decade). It looks to be mostly stock besides the antenna and a wood shift knob. Bidding up to $2,999.00 so far.
