If you’re looking for a clownshoe to daily or as a project, then look no further!
I bought this car earlier this year to be a fun, quirky daily that I could park without worrying about cosmetics. Since then, I’ve done a ton of maintenance to ensure it's reliable and mechanically sound. However, I decided to focus my car efforts/budget on my track car, which is why I’m selling.
The car runs great, and has the added peace of mind of a reinforced rear end, brand new cooling system, and low miles. It’s a bit of a beater cosmetically, making it perfect for someone who wants to drive it without worry or a good candidate for some TLC.
Good stuff:
- Subframe, frame rails, and diff mount reinforcement by TheE36Doctor. It’s not super common to find these reinforced, since it’s expensive to get done.
- Full cooling system refresh: new radiator, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, and all hoses.
- New diff bushing, subframe bushings, and center support bushing.
- Fresh engine oil, trans fluid, and brake fluid.
- New seat bushings, clock spring, hatch struts, wheel bolts, and other small parts.
- Fixed ABS module known issue (re-solder).
- New EWS relay.
- BBS wheels.
- New battery.
- New headliner and pillars.
- Low miles, 86k.
- No engine codes, no leaks.
Not so good:
- Cosmetics. Was clearly used as someone’s beater, so the paint has tons of scratches and chips with touch-up paint. Interior has scuffs, seats have a couple patches, and some missing trim clips. Wheels could use a refinish.
- Sometimes gets 5th gear shifter lean (common E36 issue).
- Airbag light for seat belt tensioner/occupancy sensors.
- Clutch bites a bit high, still holds strong.
Overall, this is a great car to drive without worrying about rock chips, door dings, etc. It’s served me well as a daily, on some long road trips (e.g. LA to SF), and on fun Skyline cruises. If you’re still reading, thanks! Feel free to reach out with any questions you have!
